Gold Coast, Queensland, 7 May 2026 — BlueRoom Simulations has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Airbus Australia Pacific and Airbus Helicopters at RotorTech 2026 on the Gold Coast. This agreement marks the next stage of collaboration between the organisations to explore mixed reality training solutions for future Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) programs.

Collaboration for Future HEMS Programs

Under the MoU, Airbus Australia Pacific, Airbus Helicopters, and BlueRoom Simulations will jointly investigate cooperation opportunities related to future HEMS programs. This includes the potential inclusion of BlueRoom’s high-fidelity mixed reality training capability as part of broader aircraft training, support, and sustainment solutions.

BlueRoom’s mixed reality training system enables aeromedical, emergency medical, and defence teams to train in realistic operational environments. They can use real equipment, clinical workflows, and mission-specific scenarios. The collaboration will explore how this capability may support complex aeromedical operations. This includes crew resource management, hoisting, search and rescue, law enforcement, and other specialist mission profiles.

Significance of the MoU

Ben Krynski, CEO and Co-Founder of BlueRoom Simulations, stated that the MoU represents an important milestone for the Australian technology company.

“This MoU is an exciting step for BlueRoom and reflects the growing role mixed reality can play in preparing emergency medical and aeromedical teams for complex real-world operations. BlueRoom was developed to help crews train in realistic, high-pressure environments without needing to rely on live aircraft for every scenario. Working with Airbus Australia Pacific and Airbus Helicopters gives us the opportunity to explore how this capability could support future HEMS programs in Australia and markets globally.”

Innovative Training Capabilities

Christian Venzal, Managing Director of Airbus Helicopters in Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration.

“We are pleased to explore innovative Australian training capabilities that may support future helicopter emergency medical services programs and enhance operational readiness for customers. HEMS crews operate in some of the most demanding conditions imaginable, and the way we prepare them needs to keep pace. Mixed reality training has real potential to put crews into high-pressure scenarios in a safe and controlled manner.”

Long-Term Opportunities

The MoU also contemplates longer-term opportunities. This includes the potential promotion of BlueRoom’s capabilities within Airbus’ global supply chain and for other international tender opportunities where appropriate.

RotorTech 2026 is taking place from 6–8 May 2026 at RACV Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast. This event brings together the vertical flight community across helicopter, uncrewed flight, and Advanced Air Mobility sectors.

The Future of Mixed Reality in Training

As we look ahead, the integration of mixed reality in training programs is poised to revolutionise how emergency medical and aeromedical teams prepare for real-world challenges. The collaboration between BlueRoom Simulations and Airbus is a significant step toward achieving this goal.

Mixed reality training offers a unique advantage. It allows teams to engage in high-pressure scenarios without the risks associated with live training. This approach not only enhances skills but also builds confidence among team members.

The potential applications of this technology extend beyond HEMS. Other sectors, including defence and law enforcement, can benefit from these innovative training solutions. By simulating complex environments, teams can practice critical skills and decision-making processes.

In conclusion, the partnership between BlueRoom Simulations and Airbus Australia Pacific marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of training for emergency medical services. The focus on mixed reality technology will undoubtedly enhance operational readiness and improve outcomes in high-stakes environments.

As we continue to explore these opportunities, I am excited about the future of training and the impact it will have on saving lives and enhancing preparedness.
