“STEM to the Rescue” School Visit: Engaging Students in Real-World STEM Applications
We recently had the pleasure of hosting the “STEM to the Rescue” program at our Australian HQ in St Kilda, organised by KIOSC in association with the Defence Work Experience Team and BlueRoom/Real Response.
A Day of Immersive Learning
The day began with a warm welcome and an introduction to Real Response, highlighting the STEM skills employed in our emergency response training. The students were then divided into two groups to participate in immersive first aid scenarios and into our synthetic training solutions.
First Aid Simulation
The first group started with a live First Aid simulation in Real Responses training centre. Run by Real Responses Head of Training Renee, the scenario included sounds, smoke, fake blood and role playing to place the students in a highly realistic medical emergency where they were supported to render aid to a casualty.
VR & MR Demonstration
Simultaneously, the second group explored synthetic simulation through a range technologies. The demonstration included a virtual reality experience onboard a C130J and a mixed reality experience inside of BlueRoom performing physical interventions with their own hands while immersed onboard multiple aircraft and transported to different combat environments.
A Successful Collaboration
Thanks to the collaboration between KIOSC, the Defence Work Experience Team, and BlueRoom/Real Response the event was a resounding success. We are proud to support such initiatives that inspire and educate the next generation of STEM professionals.
We look forward to hosting more events like this in the future, continuing our mission to empower individuals with essential life-saving skills and innovative training solutions.
